Job Summary
The Property Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of accounting duties, including the preparation of financial reports and the analysis of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and other financial activities for an assigned portfolio.
Essential Functions
Supervise and provide guidance to the Assistant Property Accountant
Prepare monthly financial statements for a portfolio of properties, including Balance Sheets and Budget Comparison Reports with variance analysis
Complete quarterly bank reporting requirements
Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, including related-party receivables and payables
Monitor and maintain adequate cash flow for assigned properties
Prepare prepaid and accrued expense schedules
Review approximately 25 bank reconciliations per month and investigate and resolve outstanding items
Review and process check requests related to security deposits, intercompany reimbursements, annual tax bills, and other ad hoc requests
Complete special projects and additional accounting tasks as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills
Experience creating tables, formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUPs
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to perform successfully in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
Three (3) or more years of accounting experience
CPA or CPA candidate preferred
Physical Job Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting and/or standing) for more than half of the workday
Ability to spend more than half of the workday viewing computer monitors
Ability to identify and distinguish between colors occasionally
